Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has renewed his contract with the Los Blancos for one more season extending his stay at the club till 2024 on Wednesday in Madrid.
The midfielder arrived at the Spanish club from the German club Bayern Munich in 2014.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Toni Kroos have agreed to extend the player's contract, which will see him contracted to the club until 30 June 2024,” the club said in an official statement.
“Toni Kroos joined Real Madrid in 2014 and is the German player to have worn the club's jersey the most times, having made 417 appearances.
“Over his nine seasons as a Real Madrid player, he has won 20 trophies: 4 Champions League, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 3 LaLiga titles, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups.”
Kroos has been one of the most important players for Real Madrid ever since his debut. He was a starter in all the trophies he won with the club. Starting with his debut against Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup in 2014 which Real Madrid won by two goals.
The midfielder also won the FIFA World Cup with the German national team in 2014 in Brazil. He was also part of the IFFHS and UEFA’s team of the decade 2011-2020.
After securing Kroos, Los Blancos are likely to announce the contract renewals of two more midfielders and a defender, which includes Luka Modric, Dani Ceballos and Nacho Fernandez, in the coming days.
Real Madrid have already signed four players in the summer transfer window. Fran Garcia, Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham and Joselu were the first four signings done by Los Blancos.
Garcia was bought from Rayo Vallecano for €3m, Brahim returned from his three-year loan spell at AC Milan while Bellingham was bought for a record fee of €103m from the German club Borussia Dortmund and Joselu was brought on loan from Espanyol on a one-year deal.
Bellingham also became the second most expensive signing in Madrid’s history, only behind Eden Hazard who was bought for €115m from Chelsea in 2019 while Gareth Bale (€101m), Cristiano Ronaldo (€94m) and Aurelien Tchouameni (€80m) are the other most expensive players in Los Blancos’ history
